Mahfuzur Rahman

Mr. Rahman is an electrical engineer by profession. He works for US Department of State as senior electrical engineer. Inside US Department of State, he works in Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO). His main duties are maintenance, planning, survey, design, inspection, & construction of electrical power distribution in various US Embassies & Consulates in South Asian & Middle Eastern countries. He has been working for US Government for over 30 years (since 1987). Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman was born in Madaripur, Bangladesh and migrated to the USA in 1982 when he was 26 years old. He obtained his Master’s degree in electrical engineering from City University of New York in 1985. As side hobby, Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman had been involved in drama acting since when he was only 17 years old in Anondo Mohon College in Mymensing. He got professional training in dramas from the famous drama group "Dhaka Theater" from 1980 to 1982. He performed in few famous stage dramas at Dhaka organized by Dhaka Theater. He also performed in few episodes of very famous black-&-white series drama "Shokal Shondha" and few other dramas in Bangladesh Television Vision (BTV) when he worked as TV Engineer from 1980 to 1982. Since he moved in Maryland in 1989, he has been acting in many countless dramas staged by few Bangladeshi organizations till today. He created a group theater (Rajdhani Drama Circle) in Washington DC area in 1999 and staged few popular dramas under Rajdhani Drama Circle for few years. Besides acting in dramas, Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman organized many countless entertainment & cultural programs for few organizations in Washington DC area. He worked as Treasurer & Secretary of both Bangladesh Association of America Inc. (BAAI) and American Association of Bangladeshi Engineers & Architects (AABEA) for many years. Mr. Mahfuzur Rahman has joined in Prio-Bangla few years ago as a volunteer and helped the organization to successfully present few Multicultural Street Festivals in Arlington, VA. For his excellent and dedicated effort, he has taken now a further and challenging sector of Prio Bangla, he is now serving as one of the Board of Director of Prio Bangla.
